The palace of Versailles

Hello frinds and followers!
Guess where we went yesterday? Well, we didn’t know either until we arrived in front of the golden gates!
 It was Versailles palace!
Nadia had already bought her ticket on Internet and said it is free for students and children coming from the EU!
The main entrance is just behind us, this sort of wood bunker... Nadia was quite disappointed because all the left part is going under renovation.
So let's go!

-The golden gate, with the "Royal Cour" behind.-
We went to the security portal, show our bags, tickets and so.... and we were inside the castle to visit... First admiring the "Royal Cour" and just behind the "Marble Cour". The main appartments of kings and queens are located around those. We were surprised by all the statues everywhere between windows, on the roofs, gold on them...

We went it, took our "audioguides" and went to the discovery of one of the most precious palace of FRANCE. Did you know it is on the UNESCO WHS list too?
Nadia just asks us to tell you she is really sorry because the light was really high and reflecting everywhere on the white walls, and she had a really hard time because of all the windows to make nice pictures, her camera is not so good and she thinks we are shiny brillant little boys too!
On the ground floor, there is a few rooms explaining the history of Versailles along the years, from the hunting lodge to the museum it is now, with portraits of the main kings or queens and architects having had an influence of its changes... The best known are of course Louis XIV and Marie-Antoinette...
Hey, look! I have found Louis XIV!

There is a model of the castle with its parks, gardens, Trianon and the hamlet of the Queen at the right... and a very large forests domain... In front are the stables and others buildings...
Which is not showing on it are the buildings where were living and worked ministeries and others administrations and that we saw while arriving to the castle... All together it is really immense and it is a big district of Versailles town. Not yet parked in front of the castle, we were already looking everywhere...
 To the upper stage...
No no don't listen to the statue, it is the other side!

It is the Royal Chapel

Now are the "Great Appartments" with beautiful painted ceilings in each rooms and marbles everywhere ...
The Hercule salon with two Veronèse paintings

Now going to the King's appartments...
The Venus salon, Diane, Mars...

...to Mercure salon. It was a "ceremonial room", quite never really use to sleep in...
Next room we were curious, the painting being renoved... It was a precision art to see...
Next to come tonight or tomorrow!
Hope you like the visit!
