Rehearsal

Today we were allowed to be silent listeners at the rehearsal of the play:
"Gretchens Liebe, Leid und Tod"
It will be performed at the "Kastanienhof" theater in Reichenau during June.
Our host mom plays the role of Gretchen.
And we could take a photo of her costume before anyone else could catch a glimpse of it.
We were also allowed to enter the stage and play together with "Faust"
The stage design was really amazing and created a mysterious atmosphere.
Unfortunately, we will not be here long enough to attend the premiere.
But if you are around you should definitely watch the play:

Geocaching

Today we went geocaching to discover some treasures.
Our coordinates lead us to a hill called "Kahle Höhe" near Reichstädt.
It was a beautiful and calm place.
Then we discovered the old chapel.
In former times there was a pilgrimage church.
After some searching we found the treasure hidden below ground.
We were especially pleased to find the "duck" which we took with us.
Let's see if we can find another cache to leave it.
Finally, we enjoyed the beautiful view to Dresden.
If you also want to visit the chapel and search for the cache you'll find all the necessary information (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=31a56fa8-e977-4791-babb-ba48d4c6f89a).

"Mühlentag 2013"

Today was the yearly day of the mills. So we visited the old Dutch windmill in Reichsst

The windmill is the smallest one in Saxony. It was built in 1850 and was in service until 1883. On the wings we felt a bit like Don Cichote.

Phew, that was quite high for us. So, we prefer the small version of the windmill.
Right next to it there was lots of old equipment to discover.

Later we tried to use a historic drill which was very long. So we are very tired today.

Staying with NaeKoBa

Today we visited our host mom's little sewing room.
There she tailors, sews and creates lots of amazing things, especially colorful clothes for her children...
and handbags.
It's hard to understand why women are so obsessed by their handbags.
But this one was really cute - we have to admit.
We were allowed to dig inside all the boxes full of fabrics and yarns waiting for the sewing machine.
And then we came up with an idea ...
Secretly we crawled into a box under the sewing table.
We found a very special piece of cloth, which we had to show our host mom.
What we did with the fabric we found is a secret that we will tell you another day.
 We are thrilled.

Visiting the Castle Ruin of Frauenstein

We use the first hours of sunshine for a visit to the castle ruin of Frauenstein.
Our journey took us through the forest and over steep mountains.

There was a lot to discover at the castle.
We learned a lot about the history of the city Frauenstein and its castle.
The old well was so deep that we could not see to the bottom.
On the highest tower of the castle, we enjoyed the awesome views.
We could even see Dresden which is about 40km away.

At the end of our visit, we rested in the Knight's camp before we went back to the Karlshof.

Welcome to the Erzgebirge

This time our journey took us to the Karlshof in Reichenau. The small village is half way between Dresden (the capital city of Saxony) and the Czech border. Unfortunately, our new location for the next few weeks welcomes us with rain.
We hope the weather will get better soon so that we can enjoy the beautiful countryside and go Geocaching with our hosts. On Ascension Day (Himmelfahrt) we were hiking and visited a worship in the near woods.
Last year our hosts started to renovate their old farm house with clay like their ancestors did. As they have not finished their work yet, we will take the chance to help them.

Today we leave Stendal for a journey inside Germany

Today we leave Stendal for a journey in to the Erzgebirge
In wintertime the radio station MDR Jump reported about our traveling project.
(here is the radio report again)
As a result of this report we got an invitation to the Erzgebirge in the most eastern of Germany.
So we took some present for one's host and her family
