The park was erected where originally was the restaurant called "La Bombilla", in the old orchards of Chimalistac, where the murder of Alvaro Obregón, president of Mexico from 1920 to 1924 and president-elect for the period from 1928 to 1932 occurred. Magnicidio happened the 17 of July of 1928 and was perpetrated by Jose de León Toral
